Poetry of the Silenced
Poetry of the Silenced is a writing project designed to explore an underserved, dismissed, or forgotten population in our midst. If we take a moment to consider recent worldwide elections as referenda or reactions on governments and their relationships to their citizens, we would find that a number of people describe themselves as forgotten— whether that is forgotten in the late capitalist society, forgotten by politicians in favor of groups covered within identity politics, or generally feeling left behind by globalization and technology. Poet Mark Nowak, who will join us, has been doing work in this arena for decades.
