Delaware’s Queer History: Public Humanities and the Documentation of Local LGBTQ+ Life

Davis Knittle,

“Delaware’s Queer History” is a Spring 2025 undergraduate course in English and Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies that will invite students in the arts and humanities to use public and digital humanities tools to document LGBTQ+ activist and community history at the University of Delaware and across the state. Students will conduct oral histories with LGBTQ+ UD alumni and curate materials from the archives of The Review. “Delaware’s Queer History” will encourage students to work with institutional and community archives to produce narratives that are valuable to current and future UD students and to members of the community.
